Yerba Mate Tea Merchants La Pachamama Limited

La Pachamama is the South American Earth Goddess. She is worshipped still today across Latin America and she represents for our company the principles of our approach to business as ethical members of a global community spanning past and future generations.

About us and the land we live in.
La Pachamama Limited supply a healthy tea called yerba mate. yerba (a holly tree native to South America) mate (the name given to the gourd used for consumption in the traditional way) has numerous health properties, but La Pachamama specialise in organic and fair trade brands so that regular users do not need to suffer the effects of toxin build up as with other less sustainably produced.

Although our tea is grown in South America, we are based in Auckland New Zealand supplying the Austrialia, New Zealand and Japanese markets for Kraus organic (certified organic) and Ecoteas (certified Fairtrade). Check out our contact details if you would like to see a map of how to get to our office.

Pukaki Marae in Mangere is situated at the end of a paper road accross the creek from the Puhinui Reserve and Bridge. This important trading spot has recently been linked to Highway 1 Highway 20A. Although the Airport still remainswell separated from the residential and industrial in the near vicinity it has plans to increase small plane traffic on the new Northern Runway. The new runway cuts a little more of the rohe from Makoura Marae in Oruarangi but the partnership with Manukau City Council and the Auckland Regional Council has resisted the extension of a hybrid of the Business 5 zone (mixed use under the Manukau Operative Distict Plan, 2002) into their papakainga (housing).

Kei te mangere koe

You are Mangere? Lazy. Mangere was so named because of the ease with which it was to maintain sustenance for hapu colonies. The soils rich in volcanic material and the harbour with its kai moana. The area was strategically very important. Still you can drive along the Portage that was used by many not travelling by the limited isthmus of Auckland. Mangere Mountain is the last mountain in the area not to have been quarried. And although it is not as tall as it's brother Maunga keikei (One tree Hill) the views from atop provide a contrasting panorama.

Mangere Bridge is a fine suburban heritage zone and the walkways and lava caves in and around Kiwi esplanade, Ambury Park farm and the remnants of the Mangere Sewerage oxidation ponds (which incidentally represent a key turning moment in the history of Aotearoa). the Otuataua stonefields that separate Mangere Bridge from the Airport is known by many names depending on what you're looking at. Ihumato, Oruarangi, pukaki. From the attached you will see some sights from near our office 9including our back yard). Our office is zoned as business 5, although a resource consent permits residential as per the main residential zone. The aircraft noise measures do not take into account the warming up and testing of engines this may become a problem for the airport in the future as it expands its northern runway. In the Mangere Gateway zone (created recently under Plan Change 14 to the MCC District Plan) there is an attractively planned and flowing private logistical specialist community of businesses. A big effort was made by the Council to push for a "Food Bowl" status but this was dropped at the last minute in order for the plan change to go ahead.

La Pachamama is looking for similarly minded businesses in the "Food Bowl" and globally, so feel free to post comments, join our facebook or myspace network for updates on our company, our Youtube channel for our products, or view previous newsletters and blogs.
