Rugby World Cup 2011 is Here!

The Argentinean Bus
The Argentinean Embassy is touring New Zealand in a bus, following Los Pumas and supporting them during their RWC campaign. Follow us on Facebookto be updated about their wherebouts. La Pachamama is providing the Embassy with lots of yerba mate to offer their visitors during the tour. They have a tango band and dancers... so do not miss out! Come and drink mate with us!

Did you know that yerba mate helps to lower bad cholesterol?
Yerba mate tea contains the largest antioxidant and polyphenol content among tea-based and non-tea-based drinks a recent study published in the Comprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety shows (doi 10.1111/j.1541-4337.2010.00111.x).  This contributes to the functionality of the beverage, which includes anti-inflammatory and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol-lowering properties that help aid in the prevention of diabetes and heart disease.  Drink yerba mate and stay healthy!

Yerba mate recipes  
Coconut water mate 
•1 cup brewed traditional yerba mate
•1/2 cup coconut water (fresh or can/tetra-pack)
1. Brew the mate   
2. Add ice to cool, then add coconut water, serve and enjoy!

Ginger Mate Spritzer
Sweet and spicy
•1 1/3 cups traditional brewed yerba mate
•1/4 cup finely chopped crystallized ginger
•2 2/3 cups chilled ginger ale
• Ice cubes
1. Combine ginger and yerba mate while still hot and refrigerate for at least three hours.
2. Strain and discard ginger. 
3. Pour yerba mate and ginger ale into ice filled glasses, drink!
